Stewart Lassner Uses a Bequest to Inspire Future WA Students

Stewart Lassner ’70

Stewart Lassner ’70 knows the best gift a young person can receive is a well-rounded education like the one he received at Worcester Academy. Now, with a bequest in his will, Stewart is helping ensure future generations experience the same life-changing opportunities.

A decades-long supporter of the Annual Fund and the donor behind The Stewart ’70 & Rhonda Lassner & Family Green Room in the Performance Center, Stewart says a bequest was the right planned giving choice for him at this time.

“Creating a bequest to Worcester Academy in my will makes the most sense for my family and me,” he says.

Retired after a long and successful career in the home furnishing business as president of the Furniture Guild in Boston, Stewart credits Worcester Academy with shaping the foundation for his success. “I received a great education in the humanities and developed good skill sets in writing and communication. I was also first exposed to the theater at WA, and that has been a lifelong passion of mine. During my time at Worcester Academy, I grew in independence, gained problem-solving skills, and became more self-motivated. These are qualities that have served me well throughout my life.”

With his planned gift, Stewart’s support for Worcester Academy will continue well into the future, helping the next generations to make their own marks in the world. “The lessons I learned at the Academy have made a profound impact on my whole life. I hope when other alumni read this, they will be reminded of their own positive experiences on the Hilltop and be inspired to include Worcester Academy in their estate plans.”
