David Forsberg ’65 Makes Bequest in His Will to Ensure His Future Support of Worcester Academy

David Forsberg ’65

Worcester Academy provided a transformational experience for David Forsberg.

“WA helped students to develop self-confidence. We benefited from the great educational programs, but WA also taught us resilience. We were simultaneously encouraged and challenged by teachers like Ralph Hughes, Dick Downs, and Dee Rowe, who talked to us about being good enough to ‘play in the arena.’ At the time we took it literally, but now I suspect he was talking about our whole lives,” Dave said.

At WA Dave worked on The Vigornia, played varsity soccer, and was a member of the 1965 championship basketball team.

Following a long, successful career in the public sector, Dave worked as Dean of the Anna Maria College School of Business. He’s currently retired and lives on Cape Cod.

Over the years, Dave remained connected to the Academy as a trustee as well as serving as board chair.

Dave’s bequest ensures his support of WA continues far into the future. “I feel I owe my support to the school that changed my life for the better. I wouldn’t be who I am today without Worcester Academy.”

“Finances were tight in my childhood home,” Dave says. “But my parents saw the opportunities I’d have at WA. I’d like to make it easier for other parents to give their children the same opportunities that I had.”

Dave encourages others to consider a bequest to support future Hilltoppers. “I hope other guys from my era see that Worcester Academy helped set us on our pathways to success and was instrumental in preparing us not only for college but for our whole lives.”
