Philip M. Parnes ’72 learned many of life’s most important lessons while at WA, which is why he has included a bequest in his will to support the Academy far into the future.
A kid from New York City, Phil was drawn to Worcester Academy because of its academic reputation and the opportunities it presented for personal growth. As a student, he achieved those objectives while making close friendships and internalizing the importance of individual responsibility.
“I grew more as a person during my time at Worcester Academy than I did at college or anywhere else,” Phil says. “I left the Hilltop confident and ready to face life’s challenges.”
After graduation, Phil earned a psychology degree from Alfred University before starting his career, the majority of which was spent in distribution for Sysco Foods. He also has an insurance license and continues to take on project and consulting work.
“I’ve used lessons first learned at WA over and over again throughout my personal life and career,” he says. “Worcester Academy helped pave the pathway to adulthood for me.”
Phil urges his fellow alumni to consider the Academy’s impact on their lives and consider making a planned gift.
“I hope my gift inspires others from my era to think about the incredible education and life lessons we received at WA,” he says. “It’s important to support the school, so the generations that come after us can benefit from the exceptional programs.”
