Jacqueline Abodeely ’93 grew up in West Boylston and always knew attending Worcester was part of her family legacy. It was an experience she shared with her father, the late George M. Abodeely, Jr, a member of Worcester Academy’s class of 1958.
As a student, Jackie worked on the Lance literary magazine and was a member of the science and history clubs. She credits her well-rounded education with building her self-confidence, preparing her for college and life, and fostering her analytical skills. Since graduation, she has remained connected to the Academy by serving as a mentor and scholarship donor.
The scholarship supports a student from the neighborhood around Worcester Academy and is an endowment named for her and her father. Jackie has also made a bequest in her will to continue her support of Worcester beyond her lifetime. “It’s the best way to make a meaningful impact,” she says.
Jackie hopes her gift will inspire students to seek opportunities for growth. She says she was motivated to make her gifts because of all she gained as a student: self-confidence, being allowed to be creative, and applying her education to real world problems.
Jackie encourages others to consider the legacies they could leave to support the future of Worcester Academy. “We need this to continue the school’s heritage and tradition for generations to come,” she concludes. “Funds are necessary, and these gifts make that happen.”
